On December 5, 2020, the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Dhaka held a solemn online meeting dedicated to the 95th anniversary of Rossotrudnichestvo. The event was attended by Professor, Dhaka University’ Department of Theatre and Performance Studies Dr. Md. Israfil Shahin, representatives of the media and public organizations, as well as students from different universities.
Director of the RCSC Maxim Dobrokhotov spoke about the history of Rossotrudnichestvo since the foundation of the All-Russian Society for Cultural Relations with Abroad (VOKS) in 1925, as well as about the main directions of Rossotrudnichestvo's activities at present. He reminded that one of the first VOKS projects related to the development of friendly ties with the Bengali people was the preparation and implementation of the visit to the USSR in September 1930 of Rabindranath Tagore, the outstanding Bengali poet, writer and philosopher.
M. Dobrokhotov let know the audience about the most significant RCSC’ programs held in 2020. Among notable events were various meetings marking the 75th anniversary of the Victory in Great Patriotic War as well as the 90th anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore's visit to Russia. He noted that due to corona virus epidemic restrictions the work was mainly set up online, with the active support of partnerships organizations.
