The Russian Center for Science and Culture in Dhaka held a traditional press conference to revisit main events of the outgoing year. Director of the RCSC M. Dobrokhotov emphasized that despite the difficulties associated with coronavirus restrictions, the Center managed to transfer its work to an online format and organize almost all planned programs.
He recalled that the main Russian event in 2020 was the celebration of the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, which was covered at a wide range by the local mass media.
M. Dobrokhotov also noted that a huge work was done, under difficult conditions, consisting to select Bengali candidates for Russian scholarships. He pointed out that the Russian language courses still remained popular and were attended by several hundred people during the year.
Special attention was paid to the 90th anniversary of the visit to the USSR of the Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, the famous Bengali poet, writer and playwright, who, as many believe, became a harbinger of future friendly relations between Russia and Bangladesh.
The meeting was covered by 16 mass media, including journalists from three TV channels.
