The 5th Asian Conference of Graduates of Soviet/Russian Universities was held in Dhaka, in which delegates from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Mongolia and Cyprus took part. The Russian side was represented by a delegation of RUDN University, headed by Vice-Rector for International Affairs L.I. Efremova. This forum was also attended by the Head of the Russian diplomatic mission, A.I. Ignatov, and the Director of the RCSC, M.E.Dobrokhotov,who spoke about the significant role of graduates in Russia's interaction with Bangladesh and other countries at the level of state contacts and private business. Foreign Minister A.K. Abdul Momen and Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan were Special Guests. They reminded the USSR’s continuing role in building Bangladesh, including the formation of national specialists.
Speakers spoke also about the unique opportunity to receive a high-level education which allowed them to develop successful carrier. They emphasized that thanks to the Soviet Union, many countries were able to exist independently.
The participants celebrated the traditional annual Alumni Day and decided to hold the 6th Asian meeting in Mongolia.
