In Bangladesh traditional festival commemorating the Liberation War started. The Liberation War Academy Trust, jointly with the Russian Centre for Science and Culture in Dhaka, launched a series of events designed to perpetuate the memory of 3 million who gave their lives for Bangladesh’s freedom and to recall the uncompromising support of the Soviet Union in this just fight.
At the initiative of veterans, for the first time in Bangladesh “Immortal Regiment” holding portraits of fallen heroes marched through the streets of the capital. Representatives of veteran organizations, students and schoolchildren took part in this rally. Total around 200 persons. During December, the same solemn march can be organized with participation of all interesting parties including relevant ministries, NGO and relatives of the lost soldiers.
Later a retrospective exhibition of photographs showing those tough years and paintings works made by contemporary artists was opened inside the RCSC. Participants from the “Saptakali”, a cultural association, performed patriotic and military songs. A number of famous poets recited their poems glorifying their Motherland.
